5 New Haircuts to Try for Summer

Warm weather is finally here, and in preparation for the long beach days and hot summer nights ahead, we're switching up our hairstyles. From asymmetrical blunt cuts to choppy layers, this season's looks have an edge but are still totally easy to pull off. Here, we give you the chicest cuts for summer with styling tips from Ricardo Rojas, founder of Ricardo Rojas Atelier in New York City, and stylist to Zoe Saldana, Eva Longoria, and Jessica Chastain.

Short Tousled Bob

The pixie has been ousted (or grown into like Jennifer Lawrence's) as the hair cut du jour by a choppy style that will show off your sexy neckline— just perfect for summer.

Rojas Styling Tip: Blow dry hair using a round brush to create a soft wave, flipping out the bottom portion of your hair.

Bob With Bangs

Whether with side-swept fringe, straightened locks, or tousled waves like Emma stone, this is a youthful and fresh take on the once mumsy bob.

Rojas Styling Tip: Use a 1/2 inch curling iron and curl two inch pieces just in the middle portion of the hair in a spiral movement from up to down. Make sure you leave ends a bit straight. Spritz with a soft hairspray and then shake it out.

Asymmetrical Lob

Shoulder length styles don't have to be boring, just add some edge to the look à la Taylor Schilling with razor sharp, angled ends.

Rojas Styling Tip: Section your hair into four and blow dry it straight from the back to the front using a paddle brush. Make sure you straighten out the ends to get a flat, sleek look. To get it extra straight, spray with a heating protector, and use a flat iron. Finally, add serum to give it a shiny finish.

Shoulder-Grazing Layers

Introducing the new take on the ever-popular beach wave. This version is shortened to a sexy collar-bone length that is a little more sophisticated, as seen on Katie Holmes.

Rojas Styling Tip: While your hair is still wet, use mousse or a volumizing lotion and scrunch hair in your hand while blow drying with a defusing dryer. Curl with a 1/4 inch curling iron in front sections and the back, then shake it out to give it a wilder look.

Long Blunt Cut

It's time for the long-haired ladies to ditch the layers: blunt straight-across ends like Leslie Mann's are having a major moment.

Rojas Styling Tip: Apply a heat protectant lotion, then blow dry your hair with a paddle brush from one side to the other. Then, section off and straighten with a flatiron. Part your where you desire and use a strong holding hairspray to keep the part down and intact. Finally apply serum for shine and give the ends one last visit with the straightener.
